Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!
Our district offers a full range of programs and services to support students with special needs. Our goal is to increase academic achievement and social growth for every student that we work with. We have exceptional programs from preschool to high school including classes for students with autism, multiple disabilities and behavioral challenges. We have resource programs in every building which consist of pull-out instruction and in-class support instruction. Our special education teachers are highly qualified in the areas that they teach. We have wonderful paraprofessionals that provide support in classrooms and to individual students. Students may receive speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and counseling services depending upon their individual needs.
Our child study team members are dedicated professionals who are very responsive to parental needs and concerns. They evaluate students, develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for classified students and provide consultation and support to school staff.
The FRiEnD (Family Resources in Education and Development) organization is our special education parent advisory group. In the past, they have sponsored informational workshops for parents and support for our programs. To become a member, please go to the Helpful Resources link.
I look forward to working with our outstanding staff to deliver exemplary services to our students. We are grateful for the support that we receive from our Board of Education and community to continue our work in special services.
